2020 Transit Custom Wet Timing Belt 

 

Wet Timing belt replaced on an Eco blue 2.0 transit custom 2020 van with 76k miles on the clock and this was what was in the oil pump strainer/ oil pick up pipe. See first picture

This vehicle was maintained properly and serviced annually using genuine parts and still the belt is starting to delaminate. See second picture.

Just goes to show that the recommended replacement interval for these Timing belts is far too long between changes, 80k miles is more realistic.

 


2018 Transit Custom Engine Failure 

2018 Transit Custom Timing belt snapped at 126k miles , causing catastrophic engine failure, vehicle was serviced annually and well maintained.

Brand new Ford crate engine fitted. 


2014 Transit 2.2 DPF/EGR issues 

2014 Ford transit 2.2 with a blocked DPF, various faults in the PCM in regards to the DPF being blocked, fuel vaporiser,  glow plugs, EGR , DPF temp too low etc. 

After checking the live data we ascertained that the engine was also running cold at around 70 degrees.

This vehicle ended up needing a set of glow plugs, cylinder 2 plug snapped in the cylinder head requiring extraction, the fuel vaporiser was seized in the exhaust and also required extraction and the threads needing repair.

A coolant thermostat fixed the cold running issue And a new EGR valve was fitted.

Once these jobs were complete we cleaned the DPF insitu with the launch cleaning system and reset the dpf values.

At first the differential pressure was extremely High at around 25 Kpa at 3k rpm, after the clean we got it back down to around 8Kpa at 3k rpm.

With the new vaporiser now working and all other faults rectified the vehicle is regenerating itself once again.
